The people in La Soledad area have cultivated coffee for a long time, but as the price to producers has dropped drastically, they can no longer feed their families on what they make. A group of ten catechists decided on hog production as an alternate means of brining in income. Mission Mexico funds were used to construct a hog pen and purchase 30 hogs.
